3RIDES Gravel Ostbelgien: A New Three-Country Highlight in the Gravel Calendar

The gravel world is getting a new highlight in the heart of Europe. From September 4 to 6, 2026, 3RIDES Gravel Ostbelgien will celebrate its premiere in Eupen, in the north of the German-speaking Community of Belgium. Following the model of the July edition in Winterberg, 3RIDES is now also bringing an innovative stage race format and cross-border adventure rides to the Eifel-Ardennes region.

With the expansion into East Belgium, 3RIDES is opening a new chapter and taking its Gravel Series across borders into other European countries for the first time. The event weekend offers ambitious racers three stages that can be booked individually or for an overall ranking, while gravel enthusiasts can experience the untouched nature of the High Fens and the Eifel without the pressure of competition on rides of 100, 150, and 200 kilometers. The highlight is the 200-kilometer ride, a true three-country adventure that leads through Belgium, the Netherlands, and Germany.

"We are very pleased to have found another new and strategically important location for 3RIDES in Eupen, in beautiful East Belgium," says Björn Müller, CEO of 3RIDES. "The German-speaking Community of Belgium is a scenic dream and, with the High Fens and the surrounding forests of the Eifel-Ardennes region, offers optimal conditions for a gravel event like 3RIDES."

East Belgian politicians also welcome the cooperation: "Gravel cycling stands for dynamism, nature experiences, and community—values that fit East Belgium perfectly," says Gregor Freches, Minister for Art and Culture, Sport, Tourism, and Media of the German-speaking Community of Belgium.

Joseph Thaeter, Sports Councilor, and Thomas Lennertz, Mayor of the City of Eupen, are also pleased "to welcome a new, attractive cycling event to our region." 3RIDES Gravel Ostbelgien at the Weser Dam in Eupen represents "a sporting challenge in an impressive natural setting. This initiative strengthens Eupen as a vibrant outdoor and sports location and warmly welcomes guests from near and far."

The East Belgium region, the German-speaking Community of Belgium, is still considered a real insider tip among cyclists and offers a scenic diversity that is second to none. The heart of the region and the topographical highlight of 3RIDES is the High Fens, one of the last high moors in Europe.

The routes lead participants through the extensive Hertogenwald forest, along the idyllic course of the Hill river, and up to prominent waypoints such as the plateau near Baraque Michel. The start and finish location at the Weser Dam near Eupen emphasizes the region's special character as a space for water and nature experiences. Registration for 3RIDES Gravel East Belgium is now open. Those who book by the end of April benefit from an early bird discount of nearly 20%.
